With life slowing down, I’ve been reminiscing a lot lately.
This time last year we were getting sunburnt in Amsterdam. And I own a number of red-faced pictures to prove it!
We spent there just a few days but the whole time we had warm, gloriously sunny weather, which allowed us to see and experience all the city has to offer. We spent our days getting lost on the embankments of the canals, stopping often for a drink and a taste or two of Gauda.
We sacrificed an afternoon of sunshine for the Rijksmuseum and were most definitely not disappointed. It start with the spectacular tulips in front of the building and continues with the building itself, not to mention the exposed artwork. It was just an all-over enjoyable experience for adults and children alike, who got in for free and were handed a little booklet to help them follow the visit while sketching a famous painting or two.
The best part of it all, however, was the boat trip through the city canals we took with Flagship Amsterdam on our very last day. Not only were there fancy drinks available onboard but humour and amiability flourished, as well. The crew was lovely, knowledgeable and full of attention for each passenger’s needs, transforming my children in captains, even if only for a few minutes.
This year we’re keeping closer to home for obvious reasons. The sun is shining just as bright and we try to take advantage of it just as much but switching the Netherlands for our backyard. All Easter Egg Hunts we had scheduled have clearly been canceled but we keep busy with Easter Lunches and themed crafts. Though too lazy to set up a home Egg Hunt, we still all got chocolate. Which is the essential part!
Next year, however, another European capital awaits us.
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter, spend with your loved ones and filled with chocolate bunnies!
